Call To Order
 |
Called to order at
7:32PM by Joe
Leaptrott.
|
 |
Pledge of
Allegiance led by Joe
Leaptrott. |
 |
The treasurer's
report was presented by Gerry Lukach. |
Old Business
 |
Sean Olin gave his
report on the annual swap meet at Avonlea Antiques. He stated that
we had a record number of participants, with record sales of
$594.00. Carl Lupo asked if any more activities were scheduled for
the remainder of the year. |
 |
Joe Leaptrott
mentioned that in celebration of the club's 10th anniversary, we
should give some thought to the possibility of a club project. |
New Business
 |
Sean stated that
people have been contacting him with radios for sale. Among them,
Gerald Brown has two consoles radios for sale. Also, he said that
someone else was seeking to buy a Blaupunkt table radio from the
'50s or '60s. |
 |
Joe announced that
Dick McEachin, who had been his contact at a local radio station and
who had suggested setting up a radio museum, has left the area. So,
the suggestion was made to set up a virtual radio museum on the web,
instead of setting up an actual, physical museum. Sean so moved,
and Neal Robar seconded. The motion was carried. |
Publicity Report
 |
Sean stated that
he has been placing meeting announcement ads on Craig's List. |
Show and Tell
 |
Andy Rood brought
a Hallicrafters S-38 that he had bought from a thrift store for a
very attractive price. The thrift store clerk thought that it was
broken, but the only problem was that the output switch was set to
"Headphones" instead of to "Speaker". |
 |
Phil Bliss brought
a home-brew radio that he built with two 12K5 "space-charged"
tubes. He said that since both plate and filament voltages were 12
volts, that it would be hard to mess up when connecting power.
|
 |
Gerry Lukach
brought the fully-chromed chassis from a 1938 E.H. Scott All-Wave,
and a 1948 Arvin four-tube table radio. The Arvin was in a white
metal cabinet, and originally sold for $9.95. |
 |
Chuck Grossman
brought a Puritan battery set that operated with number 199 tubes.
Keeping with the battery-era theme, he also brought an RCA UZ1325
horn speaker. |
