LaVilla Drama Behind the Mask Fair Share
Fair Share, What is it?
Fair Share is an important program for providing
additional funds for each of the arts areas. Each department determines
its own fair share need. Each student is responsible for a specified
amount to supplement the needs of his/her department.
Why is There Such a Thing as Fair Share?
We, the faculty of LaVilla Drama are committed to
providing your student with the best and most comprehensive drama
education available. The current budget does not always provide the
necessary monies to do that. In order to provide for the children, the
faculty and Drama Boosters have established the Fair Share program.
Don't My Tax Dollars Cover it All?
Regrettably, no. The needs of a performing arts
school are not fully funded by tax dollars. Additional funding is
required to meet the special needs created by this unique learning
environment. Guest artist’s fees, master class presentations,
educational and enhancement material for class, show production costs,
including royalties, set design and construction, props and costumes
represent major necessary expenses which are not covered in the school
board budget.
How Much is the Theatre Department Fair Share Amount?
For the 2007-2008 School year: Performance 1 and
Ensemble 1 $75.00. All other classes $50.00
Who Decides How The Theatre Department Fair Share Money
is Collected and Spent?
Theatre department faculty and Drama Boosters
determine a budget based upon the department’s calendar for the upcoming
year. It is important to understand that fair share is basically an
enhancement program. Careful consideration is given to making certain
that expenditures will benefit as many students as possible.
It is important to understand that you have a voice
in how toe money is collected and spent. Please make your voice heard
by becoming a member of the Booster organization.
It there are genuine problems with paying the Fair
Share, please contact your drama teacher or a booster officer, payment
options can be worked out.
