LaVilla School of the Arts requests
your help in securing gifts for its fundraisers of the school
year. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the
school's Drama Department's operating account. Your generous
gifts will be used to support production expenses for the
presentation of dramatic performances by our students at LaVilla
School of the Arts.
In order to make our events a success,
we are requesting donations for our Silent Auctions. Your
donation, your name, or the name of your business will be on display at
a LaVilla School of the Arts performance as an insert to the
program and on the auction tables.
Silent Auction item collection is
an ongoing process continuing throughout the entire school
year. LaVilla will have a Silent Auction at their Fall Musical,
their One Act plays and the grand finale SHOWCASE at the end of
the year. Depending on your donation, you and/or your business
could be displayed all year at every LaVilla function!
Our committee members are currently
contacting many local businesses that are well known in the
Jacksonville area for their support of education and the arts.
Please work with our committee members and donate a gift that
best represents your business, or your personal desire to
support the LaVilla Drama Department.
If you or your business would like to
make a donation, or have any questions about our Silent Auction
fundraiser, please feel free to call our Silent Auction
Coordinator, Jeannie Schoonover, at (904) 349-0703.
Jeannie would love to make any and all arrangements for pick-up
of your item(s), etc.
Thank you in advance for your
kindness. Your support continues to make a difference in the
lives of our children!
What is a Silent Auction?
An auction is like a sale--you will
have a chance to buy items that have been donated by LaVilla
parents, teachers, residents and local businesses. You have a
chance of buying this item by making a bid, that is, you offer
an amount of money that you would be willing to pay. Another
person may come by and want the same item, so he/she may offer
more money, making a higher bid. At the end of the auction, the
person with the highest bid goes home with the item.
How Does the Auction Work?
Usually, a silent auction is conducted
by setting up tables or displays of items or services upon which
people can bid. A minimum bid may be set, especially when the
item is of high value. Paper is located near the item, which
allows for people to write down their names and bids. This gives
people a chance, during the event, to tour the different items
available for auction and decide upon which items they would
like to bid.
Often one sheet of paper shows all
previous bids so that people participating in the silent auction
know that they need to bid higher in order to get the item. They
also have the opportunity to revisit bidding sheets before the
auction is closed if they really want something being offered at
the silent auction.
Bidding is open from 6:00pm when the
doors open until the end of the intermission. At that time the
silent auction is closed and no further bids can be made. At the
end of the show, you need to return to the Black box Theatre to
see if you were the highest bidder. The highest bidder will pay
at the cashier (checks or cash, NO CREDIT CARDS) and collect
their item. YOU MUST PAY OR AND COLLECT YOUR ITEM AT the end of
the show. PLEASE DO NOT GO HOME BEFORE YOU HAVE PAID FOR AND
COLLECTED YOUR ITEM.
We ask that children do NOT make bids
without their parent=s permission. PARENTS MUST ACCOMPANY THEIR
CHILDREN IF THEY ARE PLACING A BID.
